2026 REQUIREMENTS

16 points.
Every year.

Every licensed legal consultant on the Dubai roll must earn 16 CLPD points before 31 December each year. No extensions. No exceptions.

Mandatory activities

Face-to-face and e-learning sessions on prescribed legal topics. Minimum 2 sessions must be face-to-face. Ethics is compulsory for all.

Accredited activities

Any approved course from the CLPD catalogue. No single accredited activity may exceed 4 points. Up to 50% may be completed online.

The Legal Affairs Department provides Emirati advocates with free access to a comprehensive range of CLPD courses, enhancing the legal profession and fostering growth of Emirati advocates.

How to enrol — three steps

Email the CLPD team

Send an email to clpdadmin@creativeword.ae including a scanned copy of your practicing card and a request to be added to the Emirati Advocates programme.

Receive login credentials

The team will email your login details for the Kwintessential learning platform within 2-3 working days.

How it works

The Voluntary Legal Services Smart Portal connects members of the public seeking legal assistance with volunteering advocates and legal consultants across the Emirate of Dubai. Register and take appointments directly through the portal.

Points earned

COMPLETED APPOINTMENTS = 1 POINT

Four completed appointments through the portal = 1 Accredited CLPD Point. Maximum of 4 accredited points per filing period via pro bono.

Administrative Resolution No. (29) of 2024 — Adopting Voluntary Legal Services as an Accredited Continuing Legal Professional Development Activity, issued by the Legal Affairs Department, Government of Dubai.

Exemption / Extension request

Submit your exemption or extension application

Applications are reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the CLPD Affairs Committee. Provide full supporting documentation for your circumstances.

Who may apply for exemption?

•Serious illness preventing attendance during the filing period

•Maternity or paternity leave

•Extended travel outside UAE for professional reasons

•Other exceptional circumstances accepted by the Committee

Who may apply for extension?

•Practitioners who have made significant progress but need additional time

•Exceptional unforeseen circumstances occurring close to the deadline

•New entrants to the roll during the filing period

CLPD requirements may be amended per the procedures set by the Department. All amendments are made on a case-by-case basis through the CLPD Affairs Committee. There is no guarantee that an application will be approved.
